Project Overview

Tucked away in the mountains of Plumas County, the Lake Almanor Basin is home to a resilient community still reeling from the aftermath of the Dixie Fire in 2021. The Lake Almanor Community Foundation’s Summer Concert Series is designed to bring families together through a series of outdoor concerts held each summer.

Building Community

As one of the largest man-made lakes in California, Lake Almanor is home to a large osprey population, bald eagles, trout, bass, salmon, otters, and more. Families throughout California and Nevada flock to the Greater Lake Almanor Basin to appreciate its natural beauty and abundant recreational activities.

For more than four decades, Lake Almanor’s summer concert series has been a seasonal highlight for thousands of area families. As many as 2,000 guests attend each event. With fundraising efforts limited due to Covid-19 and the Dixie Fire, additional support was needed to pay for necessities such as a band coordinator, band payments, prizes for concert raffles, and fees for the concert venue.

Making a difference

The Lake Almanor Community Foundation’s Summer Concert Series promotes outdoor recreation and cultural arts in the Greater Lake Almanor Basin, and provides a safe, healthy way for families to engage and connect throughout the summer months.

Shared Experiences

The project will foster community spirit and bring people together. The Summer Concert Series provides a shared space for residents of all ages and backgrounds to gather, enjoy live music, and connect with one another. The lively atmosphere creates opportunities for meaningful interactions, fostering a sense of belonging and unity among attendees.

Community Recovery

Investment in Plumas County has been an important factor in the wake of the Dixie Fire in 2021. While post-wildfire rebuilding and revitalization efforts continue, fundraising for local arts has suffered. Investing in outdoor recreation and cultural arts is necessary for building sustainable tourism revenue in the Greater Lake Almanor Basin.
